Schools & Education
Work together, know the law
Whatever your choice of school, working together for the child's success should be the number one priority. A collaborative and open approach is most effective.
Most countries also have laws and regulation detailing individuals with special needs and disabilities rights. In England the below relate to EHCP plans and dealing with education/the local authority.

These regulations describe what should happen and the adjustments that need to be made for a child with additional needs, whether they have an EHCP or not.

You need to become the expert & manage the process. Know your rights, double check things, put thing in writing and be persistent. Most people get what they need/want but it can be a long process.

Assessments
Your GP or doctor should refer you to qualified professionals who can conduct necessary assessments and diagnoses.
Below are some online tests/symptom checkers that can provide an initial perspective.
Quick Guide
Here's a brief summary of how it all fits together
The underlying research is based the latest findings in social neuroscience, sensory processing and the Polyvagal theory.  This research explains the reason behind your child's behavirour and what you observe. You can then use a variety of tools to understand your child's behaviour and development, which informs your objectives and which therapies, strategies or transactional supports (i.e. props/accessories) to try.
