Having a child that is different, just a little or a lot, impacts not just the child but all those around them. They challenge, make you rethink assumptions, and can open up new worlds. However, it can be incredibly stressful for the parents (emotionally & financially), the marriage, siblings, and relationship with friends and family.

Finding ways to take a break & recharge and people who can listen & understand what you are going through is incredibly important.

There are lots of parent support groups that offer meet-ups, talks, activities, sibling groups, respite and help.

Engage in activities that center & balance you (yoga, meditation, running, art, music, walks in the park, whatever) and prioritise positive social interactions (social neuroscience has proven the many benefits of a good chat or laugh - a text with LOL & emojis doesn't count).
